REVISED Quiz and Test Policy (UPDATED 9/19)
Quiz Policy
Quizzes will be given and will cover prior material as well as recently learned concepts.
Quiz retakes are not offered.
Test Policy
IF A STUDENT SCORES LESS THAN A 70%, THEY CAN RETAKE A TEST (ONLY UNIT TESTS) FOR UP TO A 70%. A STUDENT CAN ONLY EARN UP TO A 70% ON A RETAKE OF A UNIT TEST.
TO DO SO, A STUDENT MUST:
1) have their test signed by a parent or guardian,
2) complete a Test Error Analysis within one week of receiving their test back. The exception to this policy is if a student is caught cheating. If a student is caught cheating, he/she will receive a zero and will not be eligible to retake their test;
3) retake the test within 3 school days of the Error Analysis being turned in.
Students have 3 school days after receiving a 100% on their Test Error Analysis to retake the test. Failure to take it within 3 school days automatically disqualifies students from being able to take the make up test.
What if I am absent for a Quiz or Test?
If a student is absent for a quiz or test, he/she must make up the examination upon return. This may be on the day of the return or within one week of the absence as arranged with the teacher. If not made-up, the student will receive a zero for the assessment.
How can a student qualify for a Test Retake?
Unit Test retakes are offered only to students who score less than 70%.
Must complete all of the following:
1) Have their test signed by a parent or guardian.
2) Complete a Test Error Analysis 100% CORRECTLY by the due date.
Students are able to earn UP TO a grade of 70% on a Test Retake. Test Retakes date will be published on my homework page. There are no retests on quizzes, mid-term or final.
Quiz and Test Error Analysis require students to:
1) clearly explain their math errors (in complete sentences, using appropriate mathematical language)
2) show a completely worked-out and correct solution to the math problem
3) clearly explain the correct procedure they used to "fix" their errors (in complete sentences, using appropriate mathematical language).
